I am thinking of doing that (4 link) but like I said before its down the road and the axles arent going anywhere, I have been looking into doing a pathy rear suspension as well and that would probably be the first step as parts are available here in town. Res knows that. Wink

My only advice is don't hold back on the money side. Swapping out axles is very expensive. If you want to perform well off road make sure you build your truck right.

A poorly built SAS rig will get walked over by modified ifs trucks.

If you go custom 4 link front and rear you'll have crazy flex and off-road capability. Are you planning on keeping the h233b?

not sure on the H233B, arent they just like Ford 9"s? anyway, the bronco has a 9" as well so who knows.

for now Im keeping the H233B, will probably do what Res did and buy the axle but get the suspension as well, and get rear disc too. smiley45

Yes and no. The h233b is stronger than the ford 9". There's a ton more after market out there for the ford 9". Having said that if I had a choice between a 9" and a h233b I'll take the Nissan axle.

The ford 9" is a better choice if you want to keep the costs down a little. Wont be much cheaper building a ford 9 than a Nissan axle. Steevo also posted about axle shafts for the h233b.

The H233B is not really stronger than a 9", assuming the 9" is a 31 spline unit. The Ford axle has 1.31" shafts while 31 spline H233b's are like 1.25". I think the 33 spline 233s are the same 1.31". The 233 does have a slightly larger ring gear.

They're very comparable axles.

both are decent got it. just have to figure out the setup.

question, h233b is a h233b, what I mean will the 3rd member from a HG46 fit the HG43?

reason I ask is there is a HG43 from a 2wd pathy with discs, also, is the suspension the same as setup as the 4wd?

Early 233b's - mid 1990 and older used smaller studs and different spacing, so those 3rds won't interchange with the newer ones. I think that's the only real issue, aside from 31 vs 33 spline carriers in the later ones.

so would a 96 like mine be different from a 92 say (not sure on the yr of pathy).

would the 31 vs 33 splines make a difference with the lock-rite I got?

You can't use a lockrite in a 33 spline carrier because of the different spider gear configuration. 33 spline axles were found in 96+ Pathfinders, 2000+ V6 Frontiers, and first gen Xterras.

The 92-96 is most likely interchangeable.
