copying from my post on the Nexterra board...I was SHOCKED to see this as they had not posted it as being available and I have no idea who is making these headers...

damn, tax returns are coming up and i was going to order some steering and headers.

Ask and ye shall receive...
4x4parts.com has headers for 3.3 V6 for both fronty and Xterra
$495 for the pair.

Or go the 3.0 pathy header route for less than half the price from 4x4parts.
Requires a custom exhaust but if your exhaust is falling apart, it's worth it.
That is the route I'm going. Smile [/QUOTE]
Wo...thats new!! and they never even posted it as a "new item" on their discussion board...and they offer all the other nuts, gaskets, etc. for them as well...I wonder who they are done by or if they are done by the same guy that SLR used in the past...We need to inquire further...I tried calling but they are closed on Sundays...link to the "new" AC headers for the 3.3's:

Why do they say the headers will not work on a SC motor? SLR said the same thing and I knew of at least one person running them on a SC motor. Is it just because they don't get tested on a SC motor or is there something more?

I read a post somewhere that stated that SC motors require a certain amount of backpressure to operate properly and that adding the headers to a S/C engine eliminates the needed backpressure...Take it for what its worth, but that is what I have heard...

I know for the Nismo exhaust they said it was because they didn't test it on S/C engines that they said fore non. I was told though that the exhaust works. I have no idea if its the same for the headers.

I know headers on a VG motor is a touchy subject. AS a D21 or WD21 Goes any header sold for my engine will need a pretty good amount of modification. Thats the reason why I haven't attempted buying or installing headers on my truck.

Sweet to see! I have a pair of the slr ones on my fronty and they work great. The so called ceramic coating sucks, but the headers fit well, are solid, and do give power if you remove the cats and put a nice flowmaster 40 on there like I did. If you keep the cats, they are worthless because nomatter how much they flow better than stock, the cats will stop the flow. Of course if you need a smog inspection for your rig, just keep the thing stock, it's not worth the headaches just to gain a few HP's.

Wow, I just looked and SLR is outta business! Bummer for them, although they got what they had comming when you consider the shitty customer service they gave. Still, the headers I got from them are good units, can't speak for any of the other stuff they made though.

If you compare pictures of them to the SLRs they are significantly different. Some people mentioned these might be made by the same people that made the SLR units but they are no where near the same.

In a post over on NOR, the AC people said that they were originally intended to be made by a well known company (JBA?) but that when that fell through they went out and had then done on their own and contracted with someone directly to have them done...so they are technically an Automotive Customizers product though they do not fab them up in house...
