Yours looks more like the 2wd one? That can be good news. John, I don't know if yours would work or not... since you have a different tranny and all.

How long does it take to get a driveshaft made? 2 or 3 days???

I may need some help pulling the tranny, and depending on whether or not it is a direct bolt up, installing it.

I know it would be hard trying to acquire help right now... being Brian's rig is nowhere near complete, and peeps still have their own crap to sort out, but it would be appreciated lol Of course, I will help others out in any way that I can Wink

I need to make a coupla calls and see if the clutch assys are interchangable, or if they are specific. Other than that, I should be good to go.

I am getting the tranny, tcase, driveshafts, crossmember, shifters, shifter console, pass A-pillar (I need the helper handle for Stacy), and a coupla other interior trim pieces for 400 bux. I can't beat that. Wink

Dick's Driveshaft had mine done in less than 24 hrs. If you arent wanting anything wild, they have a crazy fast turnaround!!

On the other hand, if you need a high angle CV and/or a long slip, it might take a while, since they'll probably have to order parts.

That is good news.

I am not looking for anything crazy, as I will have to be shortening the d/s when I get the yota case installed. I hate to do things twice, but this is kinda important I get it fixed ASAP.

I might be coming up there this weekend to pick it up. Is there anyone that might be able to give me a hand? It will probably be most of the day, since Richard lives waaay out on 200th and something Ave... past the old dog track on the 10. I was thinking about going out there on Saturday to get it.

Depending on the simplicity of the install, I may want to install it on Sunday too, then order a DS from Dicks, and see if he can put a rush on it... since I will be "stranded" from Tucson, Wink

That's a tall order if any fab work is needed on that xmember. We need to get Brian's truck to the point where driveshafts and exhaust will make it roadworthy this weekend.

See if you can round up some of the west siders to help too....this is gonna be a wrenching orgy if you do this.

Might as well put in a new clutch too...

I just called ABC to cross reference the clutches, and they are different. They have a different friction disc, and pressure plate. the pilot and throw out bushings interchange tho. The flywheel is also the same.

So, I think I will be ordering a new clutch from ABC as well... This way, it is all "new."

I dont think I can do the fab work for that in the same weekend.. I'm pretty much booked until after the run. I'll be lucky to get my truck done by then as it is.

Pulling Richard's might not be fun, due to the fact that we will have to remove tosion bars and stuff, but throwing it into mine should be pretty easy... Hell, we might not even have to jack up the truck, lol

I would really like to do this with your guys' help. I have never pulled a tranny, let alone install a clutch, so it would definately be a learning experiance for me.

As far as fabbing goes, if it will be minimal, I would like to do it. However, if we have to fab up a new crossmember, I will pass, since there is alot of crap going on this week.

John, are you supposed to get your 3rd back this weekend???

If it is going to be simple fab work, I can tackle it. I will even use your Lincon 110 so I don't take your resources from you Wink

But I won't know exactly how much is involved till I look at my truck and his side by side...

I do believe the carrier bearing crossmember is welded in, so I will have to torch that out, and grind it smooth. For that crossmember, I can just use some 2x2 tube and weld it up high on the frame...

It doesn't need to be super pretty like your truck, John lol My truck is MONGO, remember. It is supposed to be big and ugly... kinda like it's driver lol

One thing to pay attention to: There is a crank position sensor on the back of the engine block that needs to come out prior to removing a tranny. You gotta be careful with it and tack it up out of the way so it doesn't get mashed between the bellhousing and the block...they're expensive. If you're pulling this, you might grab the one of the donor truck as a spare.

Beyond that, drop the tranny and case all as one unit..itll be easier. I have a transmission attachment for a floor jack if you want to borrow it.

Regarding John, his Pathfinder is top priority. I think all of us will feel horrible that he's spent all this time giving his help and equipment out to help everyone and his own truck doesn't get done.

That said, Greg, round up an army of west siders so we have crew enough to do both.

Quiz them on installing an early 300 zx clutch disc/pressureplate/TO bearing. That's what I got in mine. The disc material is more forgiving( it comes back to life after you cook it) and the prssure plate is stronger.

This is where I got mine- give them a call and pick their brain like a local.

I'll need a floor jack as well, lol

The only thing that sucks about pulling this tranny... the truck is in the dirt. Complain So I dunno how easy a floor jack will be to operate.

I can call my brother and see what he is doing, he is not mechanically inclined at all, but good at lifting and moving stuff.

Do I have to jack up the truck to get the tranny out of a stock 4wd?

I agree with you 110% Andy. I will not let my project get in the way ofgetting his and Brian's done. If worst comes to worst. I will just keep filling my tranny, until after the run, I mean, it is right around the corner Wink

You'll probably want to jack up the truck a ways....not sure if there's room to menuever the tranny and case out from under it otherwise.

I also have a floor jack, though I'm not thrilled about it getting used in the dirt....
