well i bought a 1987 2.4L 4 cylinder hardbody, wouldnt crank, swapped out the fuel injectors, and it cranked right up
problem is it acts like a "rev limiter" at 2800-3000 rpm (dont have an rpm gauge so thats just a rough guess) other than that the truck runs good and sounds like theres nothing wrong with it... i pulled a code 43 off of the ECU which is injector circuit is open now - when i pulled the new fuel injectors out of the old throttlebody i got them from i did knick the bottom of both of them w/ the hollow tube i was using w/ a rubber hammer as the repair manual suggested could this be the problem? ive also seen fuel injector pump switch and fuel injector relay as parts for 87 HBs on Rockauto.com when i did a search for "Fuel Injector" and since the code sounds like its an electronic circuit it made me think they might need replaced? im very weak minded on diagnosis and how most of the engine runs - im learning though and any help would be greatly appreciated someone had told me to check all the wires running from the fuel injector to the ECU and make sure they are in good order - havent had a chance to pull the harness apart to do that yet though truck sat for a few months, dieseled when i turned it off until i put some fresh gas in it (probably put about 40-50 gallons of premium unleaded in it as i drive it daily) fuel filter is brand new as well |

Check the connection to the MAF sensor on the driver's side of the TB. It may be corroded or disconnected.
