So I got this VG30.

The plan is...
-cams
-minor headwork
-minor intake porting
-larger TB
-MegaSquirt

This is going to take a long time. I'm hoping to get a 5spd and install everything at once. I'll update the thread as things progress.

Who's got cams? I need to know what grind to get. The Z31 sites have some good info but I'm not going for 1/4 mile times...

Does anybody know the stock lift and duration?

Is that Richard's old motor...who gave it to bach?
here's some info on cams:
http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&N...age=0&fpart=all&vc=1

I never finished my 3.3L swap. I'm going to have 300+ performance build me a new bottom end. I do have the JWT s1 cams in the VG33 heads that I ported and polished.

You could run the VG33 TB.. but I haven't started on seeing what all i would need to do to make it work. I'd also suggest you run the VG33 MAF since the stock 3L is pretty restrictive.

cool. id like to see a good 3.0 build up. i have 2 of them in the garage so i can swap out my piston slap motor which remains VERY stong!

i already have the isky medium cams and new lifters. when im not completely broke i'll get into it and work the heads, get the cams in and swap the sum-biatch in. BUT thats a long while away.

Might want to try the z-store for some aggressive cam regrinds.

They charge $170 for the pair.
It takes them roughly 3 weeks once you send them your cams.
This is the route I'm going come spring.

What larger TB are you thinking of?
Best bet is to just swap a VG33 plenum, TB, and intake plumbing, it's all 60mm. In fact, the MAF upgrade alone removes a HUGE bottleneck.

I forgot to mention, that motor has some sort of different oil pan on it. Just be sure to switch it out before you drop it in.

Alas, no, I put the project aside over a year ago and just haven't gotten back to it yet. I need to get back at it though!

Yeah I saw that. Was this due to the front axle?

The project is on hold for right now...until tax returns or maybe after that. I've been doing front end stuff and it's cost a bunch of cheese. Steering, ball joints, brakes, bearings, bushings, and whatever else was old. Tension rod bushings are coming in the mail soon. Front shocks and possibly torsion bars are after that.

I dunno for sure. I am guessing it was a maxima pan, but I dont know. It did look like it would be good for an SFA though.
