Will they work without major cutting and welding?
I have a 2" body lift on my Xterra, just curious if I could make any pathy VG30 headers work.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Examples of these headers are..
ebay auction 86-89

ebay Pacesetter 90-95

I can't say as to body fitment issues, but they will physically fit on the engine. I'm running 3.0 pacesetters on my 3.3 in my '89.

Pretty sure the stud holes need to be enlarged, but they're otherwise compatible.

cool deal.
I'll definitely have to take a good look at them since my manifolds are busted up and will definitely not cooperate with the head gasket change.

If they don't work, I'll sell them on here anyway. lol

Thanks again guys

ETA:
Any preference between the 86-89 or the 90-95?
And 4x4parts has options for cheaper as well but it was mainly from 90-95.

Any additional info is greatly appreciated.

Is there any difference in the exhaust ports on the 1986-89 and the 1990-95?

Are all of these headers long tube style?

Doug Thorley makes headers for the 3.3. Get them ceramic coated it is worth it.
Lator....

I couldn't find any Thorley headers for 3.3, only the 3.0 and they are pretty expensive.

If I was going to spend that much, I might as well spend an extra $75 and get the Xterra/frontier specific ones from 4x4parts.

I'm just looking for a cheaper alternative to the $500 headers for Xterras/frontiers.

If I can get a pathy/hardbody header to work for $250, I'll be set!

Thanks.

Any difference between the years?

you could probably use the Pathy ones if you redo the exhaust and move the cats....Not sure if your X is one that has 2 or 4 cats....don't know when they started that nonsense of putting 4 of the $#%ing things on there, but having removed 2 of them from mine and still passing smog without issue, it's nice having a little better exhaust flow.

IMO, doing headers and keeping the rest of the exhaust stock is pretty pointless.

I dreamt I was a muffler last night. When I woke up, I was exhausted.

My X has the 4 cats. ugh..
I will be "reconfiguring" the exhaust to accomodate the headers since my manifolds are cracked once again and I'm tired of replacing them.

I already have an HKS cat-back exhaust that ends immediately after the muffler. (Tailpipe rusted off, so much for stainless exhaust lol)

So it's looking like I'll go with the crappy pacesetter headers and hopefully they will clear the 2" body lift, and I'll have an exhaust shop weld up a crossover pipe or H-pipe to my secondary cats and relocate my O2 sensors accordingly.

As long as it doesn't trigger an engine light, I'm good to go.

Any difference in the 1987-89 and 1990-95 headers?

I'm eyeing the 1990-95 pacesetters from 4x4parts.com or ebay. Around $225 plus shipping.

Any input is appreciated.

Not that I'm aware, but I'd go with the later ones myself.

Thanks Brent.
I know there will be some sort of fabrication involved, probably a y-pipe or some flanges, etc.
But I didn't know why there were two different years offered.
Maybe for emissions requirements or O2 sensors.
Maybe the later version has the O2 sensor bungs welded in.

Hey bud, I did these custom longtubes on my fronty. Yes it was a pain but they are done!!! You have to have a body lift, enlarge the holes, notch the flange, buy more short studs for the block, plug up the 02 hole on the header, and have custom tespipes made. Yes I have done all of the above and about $xxx later I am the only guy with longtube headers on my 02 SC fronty. Here are some pics!!!

Holy crap!!
That is freaking Sweet!!
I guess this is exactly what I'll be doing. Eyes Big Grin

Thanks for the info. I greatly appreciate it!

ETA:
Any reason why you couldn't use the O2 bung on the headers for the first set of O2 sensors?
I understand that the rear O2 sensors have to be extended and relocated to behind the secondary cats.

Yes. The steering shaft is actually to close to use for a sensor.
PS: Im doing another custom setup so I may have my full setup for sale soon with the custom bolt in test pipes!!!
Either way i noticed CONSIDERABLE increase in naturally aspirated power, in boost I noticed decreased torque due to loss of backpressure. I will be rectifying this with my new setup! Where in NY are you? Im in CT and very frequently go to NY.

And no problem for the info! The guys over on clubfrontier took me as a joke so I will stop sharing valuable info with their members.
