I have a '95 Nissan pickup with the V6 engine.

I want to know what is the best ignition system setup for this truck?

MSD? Jacobs?

I want the most reliable system, so I won't be stranded on the street.

Thanks,

Stan

I won't be the first to tell ya...the Nissan ignition is pretty darn good. I looked into getting something different but was convinced to just keep a good thing running. New wires and plugs wouldn't hurt though...

Go to the Auction Block.

I have a Jacobs for my 97 hardbody 4 cyl. I was impressed with what it did for my vehicle and how easy it is to install/uninstall.

When I was running 32" Swampers I had no 5th gear, with the Jacobs I gained some of it back. With 31" tires I gained a lot of top-end.

To test it... I would run up the interstate 20 or so miles (mountains). Return back to the starting point and re-do the same miles with the Jacobs enabled. Significant difference. You can disable the device in about one minute.

It not on my vehicle now. I was having some trouble with the car shutting down and thought it was the Jacobs. I took it off and the problem did not go away. I had a short in my wiring harness. Am going to put it back on shortly and re-check my original findings.

I am sold on it...

I believe Jacobs has the Ultra Team, or an Off-Road version of it at least.

Where do you purchase that?

I'm looking for something reliable. My guess would be to stick with stock for now.

Do you need a tach adapter to run the MSD 6A or the Jacobs ignition(to use the stock tachometer)?

Thanks,

Stan

Stan, go with the MSD and save some $$.

You will need the tach adapter if you have a stock tachometer in order for the tach to function properly.

The Jacob's ignition is good for internally-coiled trucks. We have external coils and can use the high-vibration proof off road coil.

The MSD also has an anti-theft feature built-in so no worries of your truck getting stolen.

Breif info of the MSD on a KA24E can be found at www.hawaiianhardbody.com/engine.html

see www.jacobselectronics.com

I am going to re-evaluate the Jacobs and then get a second opinion. I would be great if a PHNX member (with a V6) would like to test it so we can publish their findings.

Let real test results drive your decesion.

Mike, I'd be happy to put it on my truck for a test. We need to find someone with a G-tech Pro accelerometer to really be accurate.
