You can't go by the north american build standards. Nissan builds vehicles differently for different markets around the world.

To address the earlier question, a GM 10.5" 14bolt with locker will be stronger than basically any differential Nissan used in a light truck, except for maybe the 266, and there aren't enough of those around being wheeled to make a fair comparison.

So would R1500 ($200) be a reasonable price for an overhauled gm 14bolt with locker, Axle and drums...complete

That is a good price in U.S. dollars. But a 14 bolt would have to narrowed to fit correctly under a nissan.

hmmm yeah and i'd have to find soething to put up front that handles the same power, i'm gonna boost the 3l v6 quite a bit so the r180 might not take it. Any suggestions?
off the topic....what can i do to improve articulation front and rear? i realise ifs is limited (low profile stops and calmini has a lift kit) but what about the rear? what can i do to at least get some serious articulation back there?

short of a linked rear end, long soft leaf springs are the way to go.

Torque kills diff not HP. Given the front diff only gets about 40% of power when engaged you should be fine.

The front looks like an early 80-82 720 R180. 83-86 is offset like the D21. The rear of the 720s 4wds are C200s (2wd=H190s). I dont remember mine looking exactly like that. It was very similar with the rear cover. No 720s had discs in the US market. Made in USA or imported. 83+ Nissan 720s were made in USA.

The H190 is identical in appearance to the H233 etc. Only offered in the 2wds trucks.

I had 4.88s installed in my 85 c200. They were stock gears for other countrys. Whats the gear ratio? Its stamped on the ring gear.

Whats the VIN?
