I have a Standard 1988 Nissan D21 4x4...and when i am stopped i am having trouble shifting it into 1st sometimes...i have made sure there is enough Dot 3 in it...and also if you are just idling the trucks rpm will drop from the normal...kinda like the clutch is catching.
Thanks, Joe |

You probably need to bleed the clutch hydraulics to remove any air in the system.
Chances are that either (or both) the slave and clutch master cylinder are going bad. |

I agree with datz on this one. I have an 89 pathy and my slave went out. It wouldn't even start without the clutch interlock cancel switch. Replace that and see how it goes. It's like 40$ and 30 minutes.

I had that problem as well with my 88 kc. I repaced both master and slave and bled it about 10 different times. Finally I just bought a new clutch kit and dropped the tranny. the pressure plate had score marks where the release bearing had ground away enough material where it would not release properly. I still don't know what caused it whether it was a faulty release bearing or something hydraulic. anyway, $230 in parts(slave, MC, clutch kit, rented tranny jack) and about 4 months of headaches have gone away. I probably should have replaced the clutch fork as well but I sold our spare car the same weekend that I was working on the truck. This may not be helpful to you but it does show you a worst case scenario. Joe

As stated before. Bleed the system. If that doesn't work start replacing clutch components. If your going to go ahead and replace the clutch it's recommended to replace the hydraulic components also.
