Hello all

I have a 89 pathfinder w/auto. Just recently had the tranny replaced(planitary burn up,145000kms on tranny, not impressed) and now i have to hold the lever in 4x4low. It seems to be out of adjustment by 1/2"...just enough to prevent the lever to lock in. Can someone tell me how to adjust this lever as i can't see any ajustment?

Other than that i love the truck...best riding vehicle i have owned so far and its my first 4x4.

Also does anyone know any easy 4x4 trails in Southern ontario?(not one that i would require a winch or anything, but one that i wouldn't be able to do in 2wd.)

Thanks so muchin advance

I hope they didn't install something wrong. See if you can find something that is not screwed in all the way. I dunno...

If it comes down to it, you can always bent the shifter or just cut a notch in the floor. But I would see if there's some sorta mis-assembly done by the mech.

Oh yeah, Welcome to the board!

only thing I can think of is either the linkage is broken or hooked inproperly, or you're missing some bolts somewhere.......

Someone on the AC board just had his transmission replaced & has a similar problem with the t-case lever not staying in the correct position. Apparently there is a bracket (shifter gate?) that the lever rides in to keep it in position. This bracket is mounted to the transmission case. The shop that replaced his trans didn't transfer the bracket from the old trans to the new one. Try calling the shop that did your transmission & ask them if there is a "M" shaped bracket still bolted to the left side of the transmission case.

Should be able to see that bit under the shift boot, but you probably have to remove the console to do it.

One thing to look at is if the retaining plate for the shifter has been inverted. The plate can be bolted on upsidedown and this will make the shifter line up wrong, and won't let it shift down into the correct gears.

If you can't go over, around, or through...Go SAS!
