sounds like your clutch is on it's way out, or check the carrier bearing on the driveshaft (if you have a 2-piece shaft).

I did the clutch last month, i replaced everything. I didn't replace the carrier bearing yet, because there is only a small play in it. I don't know if that's going to cause it to do that, maybe i need to go ahead and replace it. I think it's more than just the carrier bearing, but i could be wrong.

yep. I'm willing to bet you have hot spots on the flywheel. This is why you gotta have the flywheel surfaced when doing a clutch replacement.

Yes, i did resurface the flywheel. I replaced everything that's tied to the clutch sys. the u joints are good, except the carrier bearing; it has a smll play in it, but it shouldn't make it do that. Unless the trans main bearings are going bad. My guess is to replace the motor mounts, trans mount and carrier bearing. I don't feel like taking the trans out again to check the clutch.

hmmm.. then take a close look at the carrier bearing. If the flywheel was machined, there shouldnt be any problem with hot spots.

I called nissan this morning to get a price on a couple oparts and this is what I got: Carrier bearing $277 and the EGR Backpressure transducer $63. Not cheap but I can't make them at home.

Did you try going through ABC Nissan from our banners? They are often cheaper than local nissan prices, even with shipping.

For that price you can replace your driveshaft with a one piece unit and never have to worry about the center bearing again.

You got me thinking about that one piece unit. I wonder how many nissan frontier owners tried this already? Confused

I think a better question would be why doesn't it shake w/ the clutch engaged.. If it was driveline vibration in the DS or DSCB, wouldn't it get worse the faster you went?
Or still be there once the clutch was engaged?

I would think it would.

There are some posts about going to a one piece driveshaft, some with pics. I think NissanNut has the measurements on his web site.

Did you check the tranny mount carefully? Mine looked fine until I lowered the crossmember and found out it was trashed.

I looked at the carrier bearing again and it has about 1/2" play in it. the thing is made out of rubber so i am assuming that this is normal. The trck drives fine and no vib. even at 70mph. It only happens during take offs untill the clutch is engaged.
