How cool is this? My wife and I were invited to dinner at the Hospitality Village at Talladega Superspeedway after Martin Truex Jr. won the Busch race Saturday.
Among the group were some of the DEI crew. There were the former and current chaplains for the Dale Earnhardt Incorporated teams. We also were introduced to one of their young engineers, who does testing and research. Fresh from victory lane was Jeff Kerr, jack man for Martin Truex. To top it all off, we met Robert Yates, who owns the Dale Jarret 88 UPS team, the Elliot Sadler 38 M&M's team and the 90 (Busch series) Citi Financial team. He told stories of how he started out as a gear-head and built his career to where it is today. He is a very easy person to approach and speak with. He was more than happy to autograph my non-Yates t-shirt and allow my wife to snap this picture. Although the cup race got rained out, and we could not stay to watch it on Monday, we had a GREAT weekend. |

I'll have to find the pictures of my wife with Jeff Gordon and another with Daryl Waltrip from 96, I think, and post them. I guess Yates has class, I would'nt have shuck your hand with that shirt on

One of the stories he told was how he used to think that if you ran from the cops (in a hot rod) and got away, then you won.
