Steel suppliers are open usually on Saturday mornings.. but closed afternoon and all day sunday.

I'm going to be hitting the steel place either this afternoon or Saturday morning to get some steel for some sliders for Flip. I need 2x2 and 2x3 .120 wall box.

Flip has a bigger emergency right now. he put in Mikey's old rear end and it's making bad noises. We may end up needing to run up there and help him swap back in his old rear axle.

He can turn one rear wheel and the other one doesn't move. That suggests to me that something in there is probably broke.

Worst case scenario, we go over there and swap back in his old rear end on Sunday after grocery shopping.

ouch! Frown I wonder if that rearend had some water in it (Mikey did swamp his truck a few times). After sitting for as long as it has, that would do some nasty things to bearings. Also, is the parking brake on that side mabye being pulled somehow?

I'll have sliders for him hopefulyl tomorrow. Then its just a matter of sorting the axle out.

John, you have a cut-off saw?
I am bringing my angle grinders and my 7 1/4 circular with cut-off discs.

I have to build a swing out gas tank holder which shouldn't take too long..

ARgghhH!!

Over my lunch break, I drove out to this hole-in-the-wall steel place downtown by my work.. and their little 3 car parking lot was full. I made 4 passes around the block waiting for a spot, but none opened up. I'm not even going to bother trying to get steel from this place when I cant even park my truck there. They probably require cash as well, which I dont have.

I just called Wild West steel to see when they close.. 4:30pm and they are not open on weekends. So, that kills that idea.

I will have to drive the 35 miles up to Interstate Steel in north phoenix tommorrow morning in order to get the stuff I need to make the sliders. I may ahve to put them off until Sunday so I can finish getting my truck ready, but we'll see..

Too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Hey John, can you pick up some expanded steel for Keith? I couldn't find any over at Capitol. BTW, Capitol IS open on Saturday until 1pm. Smile 40th st. just south of Broadway.

Oh, and we'll get Flip's diff taken care of. The truck is coming over to my place tonight, and I might take the diff over to ZUK's place to fix it.

Dude, I couldnt pick up ANY steel today.. I tried my best to get to a steel place, but couldnt get out of work soon enough in the afternoons (I have just had WAY too many loose ends to tie up at work). The steel place near my work was a real peice of crap hole in the wall place with no room for me to park over lunch today. Wild West isnt open on weekends and closed at 4:30pm today. I didnt get out of work until 5:15pm... This wild goose chase stuff just does not coordinate with my work schedule.

And now I realize that to get to Interstate Steel tomorrow is gonna take 60+ miles of surface streets because 202 is closed... I'll be gone for over half the day just getting steel. Mad smiley35 smiley13

I'm trying to get some 2x3 and 2x2 box for Flip's sliders.. do you have any of that laying around that he could buy? This is really stressing me out as I really dont have enough time to be running around to find steel while I need to finish getting my truck ready. I've already wasted a lot of fuel the last couple days trying to pick this stuff up.

I'll probably head out to Capitol tommorrow since they are open. Interstate is very expensive on new steel. Its around $100 for enough steel for a set of sliders.. and that is with new 2x3 for the slider and some remnants for the mounts... ridiculous.
