How close to the highway will we be camping on tuesday night? And would it be possible for someone to meet up with the group on tuesday morning at the turnoff to Bush Highway? My buddy was thinking about coming out on tuesday, I would make sure he was there early enough, so as not to hold up the group any.

Tuesday Morning, we'll be exiting the coves to SR87 via El Oso road (Four Peaks road). If he can meet us there, he could join in no problem.. We'll be doing Sunflower Mine Trail that day.

I'm considering doing this as well and Andy and I were talking about a timeframe for meeting that morning. I was gonna do day 1, but we decided that I shouldn't be exiting the coves by myself in the X. I haven't ruled out day 3 yet either.

I'd guess we'd be hitting El Oso road around 10:30, give or take a half hour.

You know, DL, the coves are pretty quick to get around. If you need an escort to get out of the coves, I'm sure one or more of us would be more than happy to show you the way out. Its way easier at night with GPS navigation.

Speakin of GPSs, when are you getting yours Andy?

I'm torn. Now I'm leaning towards Wednesday since I haven't gotten to do Reno Pass yet. I think Michelle is gonna ride out with me so she can ride one day w/ Flip.

Dumb question, that would be Four Peaks turnoff and SR87? He is probably not familiar with El Oso road, neither am I. 11doh

Andy - have you heard from Spence on which leg of the run we should expect him? I'd really like to check out the Stage 5 stuff on his X, so that may determine which day I show up.

Don't get any ideas - YET - I'm still not ready to start mutilating the X. Big Grin

Mike, yeah, thats SR87 and El Oso (four peaks) road. Have him wait on the side of the four peaks road and we'll be rolling right through there. He wont miss us if we can keep to a time schedule.

Cool I'll get him a map and tell him to get there by 10:00 at the latest, he usually gets out a little early anyways.

If he's got a good CB, tell him to put it on 17. Should be able to hear the chatter for miles. Wink

DL, will that work then? I'd prefer not to take the X out to the coves. I like having a nice smooth wussy truck around that's not all scratched up. I still owe too damn much on it.

Mike C - thanks!

Mike W - yes, El Oso is the 4 peaks road.

Heading to the 5th and 6th coves, the trucks WILL get pinstriped. But, if shes just going to the 3rd cove where we'll be camping, theres really no chance of pinstriping that I can remember.

I figure that day we'll probably run out to the 6th and then back, since there are so many options we can take. I'm sure much time will be spent playing in the 1st - 3rd coves (the one with all the hillclimbs and the gnarly hillclimb with the big steps) too.

The adventurous can all go and run the zigzag hillclimb too. I prefer it in reverse though. Coming off the hill running it forwards gets you into a SCARY offcamber angle. Smile

Andy, another option for D would be to just park the X at the parking lot there, pay the fee for a days parking, and then she can ride in with someone to the campsite and to play for the day. It only takes about 30 minutes to run from the 3rd cove to the entrance if you know the route.. and its way fun!

I'm definitely not doing Day 1. I *may* drive to the trailhead though and see you all off. I'm leaning towards Day 3, mainly because I've never done Reno and we could leave the X at the trailhead and pick it up on the way home. I'm still doing Day 6 too (probably driving the meany too Big Grin )

I just got bombarded with work, so Monday and Tuesday are pretty much out of the question for me, unless I want to work all weekend - and, trust me, I don't!!

The good thing is - there isn't anything I can break on the Meany. Big Grin Between the sliders and the skids I should be safe. I don't trust myself to drive the X on the trail because it is so much lower than the Meany.
