I will need help.

I still have to swap in the 4wd tranny and tcase, as well as make custom xmembers.

I will need to replace the front axle with a driver drop one. I am trying to buy Matt's, but coming up with the money is tight. Maybe by the end of this month. I will just take my gears and swap em in, so the gears are matched.

I will also need to modify the oil pan as needed to allow clearance for the axle.

Emergency brake cables need to be done.

Then, I just need to have custom shafts made.

If time permits, I also want to make some skids for the gas tank and driveline.

As soon as I get the parts, can I count on any SWANKys to help get Mongo on the trail where it belongs? The house will be done in December, so I will have facilites as well as extra rooms and beds.

I would like to do some of the smaller stuff like brake lines, and stuff, and may need help with that.

Best thing to do is get another dd so the truck can be down longer and you can do everything at once.

Have you considered paying a shop for some of this work?

There has to be a place in Tucson that does this kind of stuff....

Seeing how money is tight, and I am in the process of buying a house, buying a second vehicle is out of the question, as well as dropping a ton of money to a shop to have em do the stuff I need to do.

I just need extra hands, and an extended weekend. But if nobody wants to come down and help, then I guess I can do it by myself.

If you give enough notice and have a place other than an apartment complex parking lot and it's not still hot out, I'll help you.

I don't know how to do any of that stuff but I can turn wrenches.

Sounds like there will be costs involved either way though...

I will probably be doing most of the work after the house is done... read the first post again Razz Wink

I will probably be doing most of this stuff in Jan/early Feb.

I might do the brake lines before hand. I can work on those, and still drive the truck around.

I guess I haven't been following Project Mongo much lately. Swapping trans and t-case? So you are going back with Nissan parts now, necessitating a driver's drop axle? What ever happened to the divorced t-case arrangement?

I want to make it next year as well. I have a ton of things to do. The truck will still be IFS (no plans for SAS any time soon), but it desperately needs bumpers and following those, a winch.

Beyond that, probably not much else will happen to the Nissan because I need to finish getting the tow-rig ready to roll. That '69 K5 still needs the brakes finished and the electricals repaired to be a reliable vehicle.

Yeah, I have the factory 4wd tranny and tcase that I am going to swap in. Throwing a divorced yota case behind it is going to be more fab work than I want to get into... for now.

I am going to get a driver drop axle to swap under Mongo, so I can at least get it going. I will hold on to my pass drop housing/parts, so if I ever want to figure out how to do a divorced case, I will be halfway there Wink

Get to the new house, then buy a bike, ride that to work til the truck is finished. or borrow or rent a car, bike, maybe a Quad, Prehaps steal a Golf cart from a course or a security guard.
