Got the boss to let me go for the week, so I'm goin on AZ 6!

I think I'm gonna be sleeping inside the truck this time. Just gotta see if I can make it work with all the crap in the pirate ship. If its gonna rain, I dont wanna deal with a wet tent.

Heck, w/(3) 4-8foot extension(painter) poles, some tarp bungees, some velcro straps, rope for lashing, some stakes(or big rocks) and a 12'x16' tarp, you could rig up a quite a nice size tent.

One pole gets attached to front bumper so that the tarp is stretched from that point to the rear of the roof rack.

Two more poles go outboard to stretch the tarp out to the side.

For the end of the painter poles there's needs to be a way of distributing the load on the tarp.

IN the roofing section, there are cheapy ,screw-on brush heads for spreading asphalt-it does the trick. Just use some rope to tie from the grommet holes on either side of each pole- to the pole.

This is just a basic awning .Nothing says you cant use a bigger tarp and sew in walls, lay a ground tarp, install a fireplace torch Wink, wet bar, SHOWER smiley32

You just described what is affectionately called tent city. Most likely there will be a few tarps and bungee cords used at some point on the run, especially if rains are brewing.

My 19 year old son is coming and he will probably only bring shorts and a t-shirt, guess he will be sleeping with the dog in the back seat to stay warm.

Do him and yourself a favor, bring extra warm stuff. Last wheeling trip we did, it was very cold in the morning, and that was a warm time of the month, by 9:30 I was begging for a pair of shorts. I will be bringing my Sorells and several thick items, bunch of warm stuff because I know it will be freezing at camp and during the night.
