Since we are planning AZRun4 around ASUs spring break, I've reset the counter. Big Grin Now gotta count the days until 4 rolls around.

I think AZRun4 should be 7 days long instead of 6. That way it is an actual weeklong event.

The dates will be March 14th (Sun) - March 20th (Sat).

I'll be putting the webpage together in the next month when we sort out the trails that will be run. We'll be doing some crazy trails in the Bradshaw mountains:

- Desoto Mine Trail
- Smiley Rock Trail
- Mingus Mountain?
- Possibly a 28 Mile trip up the "high speed" Hassayampa River Wash

and many more. Big Grin

All you locals, we need ideas from you for trails in the northwest-central Arizona area. We're going to try to keep the run in that location next year.

This next run will be the longest run ever.. Plan on about 400-500 miles of offroad travel. AZ Run 3 was around 350 miles offroad. Gas stops will also be scheduled and planned out to allow for rendevous points for ppl joining up midweek and to keep our tanks full. This last run had a few ppl running on fumes by the time we hit a gas station. I'll also pick up a powertank and fit it with four air hoses for airing up everyone's tires quickly.. so we can get on the road quickly

oh man, highspeed? how fast is that? i'll be lucky if this thing will go 45 with a tailwind when i'm done hehe Big Grin
do you think the run in general will be more trailriding? because i'm thinking of sas'ing the path and turning it into an expedition/trail truck and keeping the yota, or whatever it turns into, as a more hardcore truck
i'm planning ahead this time...

Well, highspeed for me was about 35mph in the sand on Saturday. Thats about as fast as I could go. You really cant go much faster than that without destroying the truck because there are 2-3ft ledges in the middle of the wash that you fall off of if you are going too fast. I fell off a few on Saturday, but the truck is ok.

The run will most definitely be long trail rides. YOu need a vehicle that will perform reliably and consistantly through hundreds of miles of trails. Most trails are miles of mild trail/road inbetween optional/non optional obstacles. There will be just as much emphasis on scenery and cool stuff to see as there will be challenges on the trail.

ah ok, cool. i wanna keep a mild-to-average trail truck so it sounds like that's what i'd need.
definately nothing drastic, sfa 35s locked, oba obw stuff like that
some guys up here are doing a week-long survival run through the wilderness up in northern maine and canada i want the yota done in time to go with them

oh yeah and wtf is that green gob in the desota mine pics? hehe

Broken Arrow comes to mind as a last day type of run.

OK - how 'bout this for a 4 day ride:

Lake Pleasant to CK - 1 day, camp
Desoto Mine - 1 day, camp
Senator's Highway, through Prescott and up to Mingus mtn to do Smiley Rock, 1 day, camp near Jerome
Broken Arrow near Sedona - 1 day (just avoid a weekend crowd).

That's 4 days right there. Maybe that could be one of the legs. We had 6 days all figured out before - do you remember what the others were?

Then do another 3 days on the east side? Just thoughts.

Hmm... Looks like I'm gonna need dual fuel cells.. hehe I'll try to keep the Pathy sort of as it is for the next year... haha I'll try to retain most of the sheet metal... Razz I'll just work on performance enhancing details.. haha Some 18" travel coilovers in the rear might be nice.. Big Grin

Andy.. we need to go check out Fools Canyon sometime. It looks like it hooks up with the Senator highway that leads up to Hwy 89. This would be nice to make a loop up from the Hassayampa if anyone is interested in running it the 28 miles up from I10. Big Grin

Heres just a brainstorm for a good loop:

Day 1: Hassayampa wash From I10 to Wickenburg
Day 2: Hassayampa Box Canyon through Fools Canyon to Senator Highway @ Wagoner and then west to 89
Day 3: 89 to Smiley Rock trail backwards to Jerome
Day 4: Jerome to Sedona to run Broken Arrow and several other trails, run back to Prescott that night and camp
Day 5: Prescott to Sen Highway Tr to Desoto Mine Trail.
Day 6: Backroad from CK to Lake Pleasant
Day 7: ???

We could run it the other way as well:

Day 1: Lake Pleasant to CK
Day 2: Cleator to Bumblebee backroad
Day 3: Desoto Mine Trail north to Prescott
Day 4: Prescott to Jerome to Smiley Rock Trail, Back to 89.
Day 5: 89 to Sen Hwy to Fools Canyon, exit via Hassayampa Box Canyon.
Day 6: ???

March? Maybe we can avoid the near freezing temperatures, hail, ice, snow, and rain. I gotta go buy a 2004 calendar now, just to mark off for AZRun IV!

Working on the possibility of a 95 Pathy addition to our family. Just trying to figure out how I can juggle things around a little to try to do it without a loan.

Then I can attend alot of the run and DRIVE without risk of injury to our expensive X. Big Grin

Sell the Sentra.. buy a Pathy.. easy. Smile

4wd Pathys that need a little work are a dime a dozen now. I've seen some as low as $2500.

I just saw an '89 for $3,000 a few weeks ago. That would make for an awesome trail rig. With no rear doors, you could just cut out the fenders easily to fit big meats. The front doors would need a little trimming but not to difficult. I would personally hack it up for you. Welder torch

Right now I am thinking some crazy cutting is in store for my pathy. Tony, the guy who rode with me on the second half of the run has access to plasma cutters and everythings else I would need. Don't be suprised if you do not recognize my path at AZ run 4. lol
