I'll go with Marchall ~ or if he goes SAS and does Martinez, I could assist on Coke Ovens.

I have only read up to page 2 of this thread, but I will be more than happy to step up and run other trails in the FJ area. It's no big deal to me, I do love the more challenging trails, but I do hate the length of time it takes to get everyone over them. This is my spring break and I want to be able to relax and enjoy the scenery and the good company that turns out to these events. I will continue to read the thread to get caught up on the issues at hand. So, I don't know if anyone else has volunteered, but you have at least one now.

Unless Martinez has change much since last year, it pretty much was a cake walk.... One tricky part in the begining but other then that it was smooth sailing... Not tring to say the trail isn't hard but it's not totally impassible either...

I'm infavor of spliting the group but might I suggest two ways to split the group..

1. Split them by Truck type, Like X's on one trail, Pathys on the other, This would help with interchangeable parts.

2. Split by a drawing...

Also, I think we should see if 2 people want to be our Cinema Bitches this year... It would be their job to run the Camera and record the runs. I'd also like to see a community place to download the raw video so if we want to we can edit it we can.

Just my thoughts...

There must have been major changes. I know at least 2 of the 'bypasses' were impassable, leaving the boulder-strewn creekbed as the only way through. With 5 inches of lift and a locker, I still had to be strapped through one of those. The trail is eroding so much that the consensus of the group was that the trail wouldn't exist in a couple of years if some major repairs weren't done.

Martinez is gnarly now.. It was actually a challenge for the pirate ship.

There will be a lot of winching/strapping on that trail for the run.

The trail is completely changed.. The last time we went through it on an AZ Run, it was actually pretty easy. Now, after all the rains, most of the lower part of the trail is a very entertaining boulder crawl, as all the dirt and smaller fill rocks have been washed away, exposing all the big rocks.

I think it would be pretty cool..

I have two friends that are really good with the Video Camera. Both of them have made short movies. Maybe I could convince them to go on the run with us.

I was thinking that if we had two guys they could get more of the Action.

We could use a camp guard. Anyone else got a teenager that wouldn't mind earning a few bucks? Mine will probably be working at his job over spring break.

I think clarification is needed - not just a teenager - but a teenager who won't eat all the food and drink all the beer while they're "watching" camp.

We had one last year, we will have one this year also. The problem with having a community video archive is that video can only be transfered in real time (DV at least) , but I have the battery power to keep the system up that long.

No, Marchall, I meant we had a Video repository last year and we will have one this year as well.

My system can accept DV as well as pictures and compress the DV to fit on a DVD then hand out the raw footage or edit onsite.

Ok.. I'm sick of the whining. I'd finish the videos if I had a few spare weeks to put them together, but I dont. You guys have no clue how long it takes to put those things together. The run 3 video took over 3 weeks of editing every day. The Run 4 video has almost 2 weeks of time into it, but needs a couple more to be done. Run 5 is still on DV, and hasnt been touched yet.

If you want the videos and you'd like to do them, I'll give you the raw footage... its all been sitting here on my desk for the last 2 years. Hell, you can take the camera too if you want. I just dont have the free time to make them like I used to.

Its hard to do when I'm working 12-16 hour days most of the time. Its almost midnight now and I just got home from work.
