Carlton was stock up front when he did that. Last year at gox I sheared all 12. One side one day and the other a few days later. Metal fatigue is a real thing. Also you have to continually check them to make sure they are not loose. Something about the rotating mass makes them loosen up no matter how big your lock washer is.

Were you using the Warn studs? Carlton was.

I broke off one of mine when I was taking the hub off back in October. Luckily there was enough of it sticking out so I could back it out with some vice grips.

I've switched to some socket head bolts.

Thats crazy.. I've only sheared one of mine when i accidentally overtightened the nut. Like Will, I was able to grab it with some pliers and unscrew what was left of the stud. I have yet to break any studs on the trail.

I actually tried switching to stainless steel hex bolts but I sheared off some of those too. I don't know why the hell it happens it must have something to do with driving style. Ian has also sheared off his share. Drilling them out and retapping to a bigger bolt might not be a bad idea after all.

The only problem I can see with using a bigger bolt would be clearance issues with getting the wheel on and off. I accidently put some washers that were a little too big on mine and the wheel woyldn't go back on afterwards lol

Whoa, we're way off topic hehe Wink
