bille, the inners are already cryo'd and heat treated, and all that.

terence, wait until Friday when the pics come back. you would have broken too. I just was in a bad spot. if you are running stock stuff, you'd have broken even earlier in the trail.

No, I dig the tires. The tires are BAD ASS. I was just in a REALLY bad spot, and pretty much anything would have broken.

WEll that cinches it... my skids will have recessed bolts that wont shear off. That must be the most ironic carnage- a rock knocking your skidplate off.

Man, that sounds like so much fun! Wish I could've been there! By the time I can make it out there, I really will be solid axle swapped and locked/locked! Going to Uwharrie, NC next year (similar terrain to here, just a lot more hilly Smile ) to wheel w/some Mitsus and Isuzus (the occasional oddball shows up too: the Toyota, Jeep, Ford, or Chevy. I think I'llbe the first, at least one of the first, Nissans to make it!). My sister lives no more than 1 hours drive from Uwharrie, so that's why that run comes first (and it's 3 times a year).

Well, Coke Ovens was crazy today, even though it's comparatively mild to the stuff y'all done earlier in the week.

Flat tires, battery acid eating things up, on-the-trail-fixes, lots of duct tape, fluids spilling out of some undiscovered place (my truck, and yeah, from the engine, before the "pants" jokes begin).

More overheating - one rig that is, not people. Except for Ivan (VaderX), who had no a/c.

There was even a minor miscommunication about a line to take out of Coke Ovens towards Battleaxe up a gnarly ridgeline. The word over the cb was "tough line to the left, easier line to the right". But, everyone thought that meant a ledge on a small initial hill. We all went right around the ledge, then left up the ridge. It wasn't until about 1/3 of the way up when I look in my side mirror and see a road off behind us, going to the right... the "easy line". Oh crap. This was getting rocky, steep and loose...

Oops. Then I hear on the CB from Keith, who was directly behind me, "Matt, don't stop! Don't stop! I have to keep moving!".

Hehe. Yeah, me too. The whole slinky had to keep moving, and we all went up that hill, no problem.

Cool

It was fun!

Big Grin

I have some good pics, but won't get them all up until tomorrow, sorry. Too tired now.

In the meantime, here's some misc stuff ...

Poser pic coming up Box Canyon this morning at 7am to meet everyone at the trailhead...

Flip turns his Pathy into the AZ State Ferry System...

What? No hat? No shorts? No problem! Keith makes a handy-dandy pair of jeans into nice accessories to go with his t-shirt...

Ivan's custom graphics. Got some pics of how the X got this muddy...

Regards,

-matt

I'd wager a guess that that is the most photo'ed spot in Box Canyon.

Not sure what you're saying, but the NOAS (Nissan Offroad Association of the Southeast) club and its members have run Uwharrie several times. Used to go spring and fall, now it's just the annual Fall Run location.
My pics from last fall's "advanced" run:

Oh yeah.. I forgot.. Smile Anytime you want to stop by, just let me know. Let me know if you are down to party at all.. My eye is feeling better, so I'm down. Smile (I got a piece of dust under the contact, and it scratched my cornea I think)
