I am still thinking about joining you guys in AZ but after looking over the recommended mods im falling a bit short...

Rear recovery point - short of buying a hitch what can i do to meet this?

CB or FRS - a necestity? or really nice to have?

Spare parts - i dont really have any spares

Camping equipment - its all at home....500 miles away, not tent, bags, stove, chairs, tables...nothin

i want to attend still, any suggestions?

CB is nice and FRS is ok - but we do have people that have extra FRS radios that could lend you one for the run if needed.

Camping stuff - you need to be able to have somewhere to sleep while camping. We have an extra 2 man tent (small) that we could lend you for the run and an extra sleeping bag. No pillows though. We have extra chairs too. Stove/table - I wouldn't worry about as there will be enough people w/ cooking things to make up for it.

The rear recovery- prefferred but could be worked around(if it meant hooking to a shackle or wrapping a strap aound the bumper) if that proved to be an issue.

CB- FRS, you could probably borrow an FRS many have an extra hand held.

Spare parts, that would be my only concern, what kind of setup are you running?

Camping gear, pull into the "tent city" community, I am sure there will be a stove to cook on, tailgates to sit on and you could sleep in the bed of your truck.. You'll just need to track down a sleeping bag, an Ice chest full of food and I bet you would be set in that regard lol

What about me? I've got a tent/sleeping bag...and that's about it.

I might even see if somebody has an extra bag so I wouldn't have to bring mine on the plane.

LOL - I think you'll be ok Will - you can buy groceries when you get here and borrow a cooler or throw them in with someone elses. Smile

the recovery point up front is the big one....

As far as cooking things go, there will be PLENTY of stoves etc. I'm bringing my big Camp Chef stove- two big burners, and a 5 gallon propane, a grill rack, 12 qt Dutch oven, various pots pans etc. There will be paper plates etc. Flipper has the full size grill too.

I have 1 extra sleeping bag, an extra queen size coleman mattress, two extra coleman chairs and 1 extra cooler.

The extra mattress and chairs are going with me as spares but you would need to carry the sleeping bag and cooler in whatever vehicle you are in.

I have a couple of extra tents too, but they are big cabin tents. Anyone is welcome to use them, but ya gotta carry them too. I have a little tent I'm using for the run, you can buy them for 29.00 at Target or Wally world.

I have two lanterns, soap, camp shower with a little pallet, tarps etc etc etc. Heck between just me and Andy the place will be lit up. I have spices, condiments, Tongs, spatulas, pot holders, foil, whatever crap you'd need.

All you guys need is your food (there will be plenty of that too) beer, and a spot to crash. Oh, I have a good backpack hammock (holds my fat behind) and an even better Pawleys Island hammock. I'll carry both of those.

Basically if you make it out here, you're covered.

Meh.

I will have a spare FRS, but all the stuff you miss on cb makes having a cb worth it.

If you can come up with a magnetic antenna, I've got an extra CB that plugs into a 12v. How about that!

Will, I figure you'll be riding with me or Stone. Either way, whatever you need to borrow (tent, etc.) you're set. I have about 5 tents....2 little 2 man pup tents, 2 two-man domes...and my big 4 man.

Yeah I'm listing a passenger.........PigDog. He can ride in the back some, we can trade off with Will. Let's just hope he's less odiferous than Jove. smiley1

BTW, I took the dogs on about a 5 mile hike yesterday. PigDog got home, drank about a gallon of water and layed on the floor, where he stayed for at least an hour. All he did this morning was raise his head a bit when i left for work. Poor fat bastard!

Meh.

wow i am impressed at all the hospitality you guys are showing!

i know what a CB is but what is FRS?

Ok so i gather the rear point is not such a big deal...i bought a procomp tow hook a while back but could never figure out where the hell it mounts...i guess ill have to drill holes or somethin

If i attend i will have the calmini steering installed - robin do you want to do them together?

ill bring some propane for my cooking needs and utensils

basically i will need:
-tent(2 man)
-2 bags (no mattress needed)
-cooler

"Pawleys Island hammock" Hehe, my aunt lives there.

Haha, yeah I don't smell...too bad. Big Grin

I'll just let you guys fight over the southerner. Wink I don't care who I ride with.

Andy, it would be great if I could borrow a tent. Maybe a bag too? Airport security would probably be concerned if I showed up with a pile of muddy stuff.

I'm about to check the loads to try and get an idea of what day I'm leaving.

I have plenty of room for anyone that needs a place to stay. Have lots of floor space (you'd just need air mattresses and sleeping bags, etc).. I've got several couches that could be slept on too. I should also have finished up my guest room by then as well with a spare twin bed & blankets and stuff.

For anyone still needing a place to crash (FrontCC or anyone else), PM me and I'll get you my info. I have enough room (including parking) for 6 or 8 ppl sleeping & parking for 4-5 trucks or more if needed.

Will, I have several extra coolers that you can use too.

We'll have to have pre and post-run get togethers to swap stuff around. lol
