Well, just got home from Day 1 so thought I'd post up some teasers for those that didn't make it. Big Grin

First and foremost - we had a guest with us today. His name is Jay Kopycinski and he was sent to us as a freelance photographer for Four Wheeler magazine. He rode with Andy but walked most of the trail and took TONS of pictures of all of us! It was awesome!! (Read this whole post and at the bottom you'll find more cool info!)

So, Day 1 was fun. The only breakage was Allan's toe hook (completely seared off!), Steve sliced a tire, Glen did something to his thing that has something to do with his front locker so he had no front locker for the trail (they were welding under his truck when I left), Perry laid his truck on it's side, Robert had a very bad thing happen - something about a slave something and the outcome is no clutch, so he's heading home tomorrow or Wednesday morning (can't remember which) and I got to strap Flip! Big Grin

I took a strap once cuz I couldn't get enough clearance to not hang up on my rear diff skid. My skid plates took mucho abuse and loved every minute of it!

It is cold. You can see the snow - very close. Martinez may be camping in the snow. Heavy clothes is needed!

Mattman - I hope you read this. Camp is not where it was supposed to be. It is closer to the main road then the other one by a ways. It's still on the right hand side of the road though. Yell out on the CB and they'll guide you.

Other than that - lots of fun. 17 trucks today.

Ok, now for the other news. Jay K (from the earlier part of this post) will be joining us again for Friday/Saturday on Charleau. We've known about all this for a couple months but were afraid that if we told anyone we'd jinx ourselves and it wouldn't happen. Trust me, it was really hard for Andy & I to keep this a secret - but it's ok to tell everyone now. Smile

I'll always live for the nights I can't remember and the friends I'll never forget!

Dude that rocks about the freelance photo guy.

Sucks about Robert... it seems that on every run he goes on, something either breaks or wants to brake. Oh well.

I'm REALLY jealous as well. I couldn't be like Gator and sell the house, but I might've skipped school this term (ok, prob. not but it's fun to think about)

Robert's slave cylinder went out?

Awesome on the 4wheeler guy, will be awesome to see that in a mag. Curious that Destination Xterra got covered before the AZRun, but whatever.

I remember seeing somewhere that your X got new MTRs? If so, where's a pic?

Talked with Dan (Vengeful) tonight on msn, he's somewhere in NM, his apartment may not be ready in time? I'm sure he'd wheel with all his stuff in the pathy anyway but thought I'd post that.

:still insanely jealous:

I'm back home as well.. Had to leave camp this morning and head back to town to see a doctor.. Been battling a bug for the last 4 days and it was getting worse, so i'm going to the doctor at 1pm. I'm hoping to be back out there for Charleou Gap.

The one thing that D forgot to mention was that Perry flopped his toyota on its side near the end of upper Woodpecker. I think he misjudged the obstacle, his tire went in and the truck went over. Amazingly, you couldnt even tell that he flopped it! I have photos of the recovery.

Also, Terrance, Perry, Dennis, and Xtoolbox (cant remember his name) successfully went through "Fulcrum" on Upper woodpecker.. This obstacle puts the trucks at about a 45 degree angle against a rock wall. Was a sight to see with only fractions of an inch between the rock face and the roofs of their trucks.

The pathy did really well. I went through part of the squeeze on lower woodpecker. Had the pathy completely flexxed out and digging holes in the quicksand. Made it through though!

I'll post up a bunch of photos for you guys when I get back from the doctor.

Yes, Roberts Jeep blew its slave cylinder for the clutch. The slave is inside the bellhousing, so he's retired for the run.
