- Tools Required
- 8mm wrench
- Phillips head screw driver
Difficulty of Installation
Not hard at all.
It took me about 10 minutes. (might have been faster if I had set out the tools right away) I changed my cap and rotor at my Apt. complex under the covered parking.
- Removal/Disassembly
- Remove new distributor cap from box. Compare to current cap to check for accuracy in product.
- Label all plug wires or find a way to remember which are which.
- Remove plug wires from distributor cap.
- Using Phillips head screw driver, loosen two Phillips head screws on distributor cap.
- Remove cap.
- Compare new rotor with old to check accuracy in product.
- Using 8mm wrench or ratchet, remove small screw on distributor rotor. (screw is not on top, but rather on side of rotor.)
- Remove rotor.
- Installation
- Install new rotor.
- Replace small screw on side of rotor using 8mm wrench. Do not overtighten.
- Install new distributor cap.
- Making sure cap is tight against distributor assembly, tighten the 2 screws which hold down the cap using a Phillips head screw driver.
- Replace spark plug wires in correct places. (this should be easy if you labeled them during removal)
I also disconnected my battery before starting this procedure. I did this to reset the computer's memory for the new cap and rotor.
